چکیده

Introduction Ventricular arrhythmia (VA) is most commonly caused by ischemic heart disease. However, alternative etiologies of VA, including channelopathies, congenital heart disease, other cardiomyopathies such as hypertrophic cardiomyopathy, drugs, electrolyte imbalances, and infiltrative diseases must always be considered on the differential. Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD) and cardiac sarcoidosis (CS) are uncommon causes of VA and increase the risk for sudden cardiac death. Both diagnoses are far distinct from each other, but they can be confused if a diagnosis is made and alternative diagnoses are not thoroughly considered. We present the case of a 66-yearold man who presented to our hospital in monomorphic ventricular tachycardia (VT) owing to CS mistaken as ARVD.

Cardiac sarcoidosis imitating arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia.

Isolated manifestation of sarcoidosis in the heart is very rare. The present work describes the case of a 41-year-old woman with ventricular tachycardia and severe symptoms of heart failure in June 2006. Clinical, MRI and echocardiographic findings revealed the diagnosis of an arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. Due to the severe progression of the disease, cardiac transplantation was p...

Familial form of arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia presenting with recurrent ventricular tachycardia.

We report on a 48-year-old man who presented with recurrent sustained monomorphic ventricular tachycardia, which resulted in syncope on one occasion. Subsequent investigation confirmed the diagnosis of arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia. Familial screening for the disease was conducted using 12-lead electrocardiography, signal-averaged electrocardiography, and magnetic resonance imaging...

A unique association of arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia and acute myocarditis, as assessed by cardiac MRI: a case report

BACKGROUND Arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia (ARVD), is a genetic disorder of the heart, which mainly involves the right ventricle. It is characterized by hypokinetic areas at the free wall of the right ventricle (RV) or both ventricles, where myocardium is replaced by fibrous or fatty tissue. ARVD is an important cause of ventricular arrhythmias in children and young adults. Although ...

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy in a 52-year-old man – clinical presentation mimicking an acute coronary syndrome

Arrhythmogenic right ventricular cardiomyopathy is an infrequently diagnosed, genetically determined disease that leads to significant clinical consequences, including progressive heart failure and ventricular arrhythmias accounting for sudden cardiac death. We report the case of a 52-year-old patient who presented with ventricular tachycardia and features of an acute coronary syndrome. However...

Impact of genotype on clinical course in arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy-associated mutation carriers.

AIMS We sought to determine the influence of genotype on clinical course and arrhythmic outcome among arrhythmogenic right ventricular dysplasia/cardiomyopathy (ARVD/C)-associated mutation carriers. METHODS AND RESULTS Pathogenic mutations in desmosomal and non-desmosomal genes were identified in 577 patients (241 families) from USA and Dutch ARVD/C cohorts. Patients with sudden cardiac death...
